Texas Tech University-El Paso Oral Health Clinic

This project includes the finish out and renovation of approximately 40,562 square feet of a former El Paso box factory into the new Oral Health Clinic (OHC) for the Texas Tech University College of Dentistry. The new Oral Health Clinic will provide the clinical aspects of the undergraduate dentistry program including a General Practice Clinic (GPC), Multi-purpose Clinic (MPC) and a Faculty Practice Clinic (FPC). The facility will support all public, business, radiology, central sterile, clinical support, and building systems support space necessary to operate a state-of-the-art Oral Health Clinic.

The OHC is located within the existing Facilities Building/Warehouse, adjacent to existing multiple University Office tenants. This adaptive reuse project faced many challenges including bringing the building envelope up to current energy code standards and ensuring accessibility at the patient, student, and faculty entrances. This project also faced unique budget challenges that surfaced during design development. The design & construction team worked seamlessly to reduce construction costs by 9% while maintaining a clinical quality finish out.
