Allen Main Post Office

Located on the edge of the municipal district of the growing city of Allen, Texas, the new 27,000 sf Allen Main Post Office occupies just over 2.5 acres at the corner of Century Parkway and Butler Dr. This ground up facility provides a point of entry through the design of the formal canopy system which directs the customer to the lowered portion of the building highlighting the public service areas which includes a full service and self-service retail store combined with a box rental lobby. The continuous glazing along the west face of the building reveals the box lobbies providing a safe and secure experience for the customer. The choice of material was selected to contrast the multiple facets of the facility while also responding to the existing neighboring context of its surroundings with its developed landscaping. The facility program also includes an expansive workroom, administrative, and support area, along with a covered mail platform.
